Over/Under Trigger Operation

How does a single trigger/firing pin operate on over/under guns?

I have figured out most stuff concerning guns but this one has me stumped. I would like to know how these things operate on over/under shotgun (no hammer) and on a derringer (hammer operated).

Any info/drawings/etc. would be much appreciated.

  On most of the modern guns there is a thumb switch on the tang usually combining positions for safety, upper first and/or lower first. Second trigger pull automatically fires the unfired barrel. I am much less familiar with older guns.

  Hello there are 2 main types of single triggers on over / under shot guns. #1 type you open the gun as if you were going to load it this cocks both hammers when you close the gun and pull the trigger it fires one barrel the one you select with a button on safty or trigger guard then if you pull the trigger again it will fire the other barrel this is mechanical triggers . #2 and what is used on many guns operate the same way but you must have the recoil of the first barrel going off to set up the trigger to fire the second barrel.
