.40 Pistols
I currently own a Walther PP and a S&W .38 Special Revolver. Both are great pistols, but I'm looking for something less...elderly. I recently went to the firing range and fired a Glock .40, SIG 226 (.40), and a Baretta (9mm). The SIG was most acurrate out of all of these (special note: the glock was horrible). However, there are still a few handguns I have yet to fire...
Which .40 cal pistol is most accurate?

Interesting. I qualify as a Master with my issued Glock 35 every year. So do a large number of people on my department. It's a very accurate .40 As far as the others go, I only have experience with the SIGs and the Walther P99. Both are excellent, accurate guns. Go with what fits your hand and what you prefer between polymer and aluminum frames.

I imagine that the glock was probably in poor condition.. or the ammunition was crap. Many variables I guess.

In my experience, and in my collection, my USP40 seems to be the most accurate.
In a shoot out tie breaker between it and a Kimber Match 45, it held its own until the fourth or fifth retry. (We were shooting at poker chips at 15 yds.)
That being said, the grips are definately not the most comfortable of the group.0 -

If you have never shot a Glock before that would explain the poor accuracy. The trigger takes a few range sessions to get use to.
I would go with a Glock, Sig or USP. Which ever you feel most comfy with.0 -
I own 3 different pistols in 40 S&W. The Sig and Glock, however, My Taurus PT101SS out shoots them both by a mile. And for half the price as the others. I would recommend the Taurus! 0 -
I own 40's made by Browning, Colt, S&W, Star, H&K, Sig,Kel-tec,Taurus, Glock and Beretta. The most accurate in the bunch is my SIG-Pro. If I have learned anything from playing with all of them, 40's are very ammo sensitive. You have to try different weight and types of bullets to see what a particular pistol likes. There is no getting around that usually what ever is the heaviest, has the longest barrel and sight radius, and the best trigger is easier to shoot well. 0 -
The Para-Ordnance P-14 is a .45, the P-16 is a .40

In RE: to the glock? I fired it, a retired Marine fired it, and an ex Naval officer fired it. All with little accuracy. My marine friend has had plenty of glock trigger experience... and I've known about the adjustment you have to go through. I think it was that particular pistol.

ahh well i was in the marine corps for 6 years...does that make me any better with a pistol...nope.

I forget that it's now somewhat common for people to join the millitary without one of their intents being to completely master their firing skills.
