Am I right? Colt Scope..

If I remember right, the Colt scopes back in the 80's were made in Japan I had one on a Colt AR15 (car).. it was about 4-5" long....[?][?][?]

    Colt sold several different scope models for the AR-15. I assume that they were all made in Japan, but I have never seen one marked as such, & Colt doesn't discuss their suppliers.

    With Japanese scopes, it's difficult to know for sure. Most Japanese "name brand" scopes have optics made by another company that makes lenses for most of the Japanese scope industry; no one makes the entire scope. And, these companies keep changing; look at Springfield, Inc, whose scopes have been assembled by several Japanese companies over the years.

    Even if the scope listed on GB is not import marked, it could still be Japanese parts that were assembled in the US. I don't think anyone cares, or will pay a premium for it, either way.
