Colt Cobra identification help

I have a family heirloom Colt Cobra that I can't find in the books. Can someone identify it by the serial number for me? It has some features of a first type and some of the second type, if I am reading the book correctly. Serial number f70265. It was purchased new in 72/73. Did Colt make a transition model with both first and second model features? It has an alloy frame, 2 inch barrel, with an enclosed ejector, but also has solid wood grips without the mediallion.     A transitional model would not have been possible; there were too many differences in the models. Some small parts are interchangeable, but you couldn't possibly have a 1st model with a 2nd model barrel. Several different grips to fit this gun were available from Colt, or the set it now has may be aftermarket.

    The pistol was purchased NIB as is. No aftermarket grips,or replacement grips were installed. If anyone has a link to Colt production date codes,that would answer my question.

    Your Cobra was made in 1974. The wood grips are correct. They completely enclose the grip frame? Almost all the second model Cobras I've seen have this style grip. Some Detective Specials too, since they're all the same D Frame.

    The frame is exposed about 3/16 wide,between the grips at the rear and shows to about 1/2 inch from the bottom,where the grips butt togerher. The front edges of the grips butt together, top to bottom. Thanks for your reply.
