Whats going on here
Whats up with some sellers on this and other auctions who will not ship ammo to certain locales.
I emailed one seller who would not ship 50BMG to Cal. He replied that ATF published a list of locations to "not" ship ammo to, per that areas laws. 50 ammo is legal in Cal, only the guns in that caliber have been banned.
I encountered another seller who would not ship 7.62 / .308 to my area. It is legal here as are all other calibers, and all the guns stores in my area sell it.
Anyone heard of this tactic before??

honestly, I would imagine that people are too afraid to ship the ammo there due to the restrictive laws. I live in AZ and I frequently see law enforcement officers from CA coming to gun shows here to buy ammo so they can avoid the supposed "red tape" in their home state. I don't know if there are laws prohibiting specific types of ammo, but I would imagine that there is some reason the drive across state lines to get it. All in all, I don't know, just throwing in what I heard for disscussions sake (take it with a grain of salt). 0 -
The truth is that some most dealers do not know some of the other sates laws. I am a dealer and Icertainly do not know what is legal in Ca. or what is legal to sell in NJ . Their are certain areas in PA that you cant sell air guns or supplies to . SO it becomes much easier for the sellers to cover their own A** and not sell to some problem states and areas.
Rememebr one slip up and ATF can take your license and its just not worth it.0 -
Sell ammo in NJ you better have a NJ business license ,their great governor set up many gun dealers online a few years back ,it is law there ,if you sell there you must have a business license, Illinois you must have a copy of their f.o.i.d. card , and now even counties are making restrictions
don't blame the dealer for wanting to CYA ,he could get fines that may cost him his business if he is just a mom and pop store

Mace.... My guess the reason you see LEO's coming to AZ to buy ammo is maybe better prices, or less taxes. There is absolutely no red tape here for buying ammo.
The crossroads of the west gunshows are held in my area about every 2 to 3 months. You can buy thousands of rounds at a time of everything from 22LR to 50BMG and you just pay for it and your done. There is NO paperwork or red tape for ammo here.
The thing that bothers me is that there may be a list prepared and sent out by ATF to dealers around the country that is based on bogus information.
It is also possible that the seller I emailed just made up the story about the "list" as he did not want to ship to CA. If thats the case he is just narrowing his potential market. Money from CA is just as green as every other state.
Are there any dealers out there who have seen a "list" like this??
