springfeild single shot

Hi
I have a springfield - stevens .22 single shot bolt action model 53a with steel but plate. There is no sign of a serial number and was wondering if thay made them without serial numbers? I do not see a model 53a in book could someone give me the value? it is in very good condition.

  Stevens made a great variety of inexpensive single-shot bolt action rifles under both the Springfield and Stevens names.
  
  Generally speaking, in good to very good condition, they're worth about $80 to $150.
