I am attempting to mount a Clark Optical Rib on a Springfield slide. It takes three #6 screws similar to a Bo-Mar type set up. Since the slide is hardened steel (I assume 32-38 Rockwell), how do I go about drilling and tapping? I have Carbide drills that should work, do I over drill and only use a light tap?

HELP! (I don't want to ruin a good slide and have to buy a new one)

Any suggestions are appreciated.

  just crack the surface with the carbide drill then finish with #31
