AK 47 Advice
I've been contemplating purchasing an AK 47 type rifle. Any suggestions
on brands? How about milled vs stamped receivers? A friend of mine just purchased one made by Arsenal Inc., have not seen it yet but he seems very impressed. Thanks a lot for any info.

SAR-1 if you want a 7.62x39 and a SAR-3 if you want a 5.56mm. My 2 cents [8D]

SAR-1 - if you're not out to drop $$$ - plenty of projects you can spawn from it etc..
Stamped - less $$$ and I doubt you will ever get to the point where you would "wear" it out and the milled would surpass...0 -
The SAR is reportedly good for the money. The Arsenal is a little more expensive and worth it. The milled receiver is more accurate than the stamped, and the Bulgarian (Arsenal) workmanship is second to none. Go to AK.net and surf around for an education, then evaluate your reasons for buying this type military piece. If you're just wanting a toy to thrill you on Saturday afternoon, any old AK will do that. If there is any likelihood of your being in a close combat situation (security group or private military ops) get the best one you can rake the money up for, naturally.
Welcome aboard.
