Savage Springfield Model 67 Shotgun

I was wondering if they still made replacement barrels for this gun. I'm interested in turing it into a competition gun. I don't want to sink a $1,000 plus on a new trap gun. I don't shoot that much, but the gun I have now doesn't reach out far enough. Plus I'm kind of new, I want to get a little better before I invest in a new gun. Is this a lost cause?
This gun Does have a fixed choke.

    You say your gun does'nt reach out far enough....Is it a fixed Full-choked bbl? Have you "Patterned" it with different brands and loads?.... Have someone else try it out that shoots clay's often before you start dumping money into it![;)]

    Forget it,,never hold up. Just a utility gun. Get an 870tb for starters. IMO. nambu

    I AGREE WITH "mm8nambu" HOLD OUT FOR A 870 EXP. OR A MOSS. 500 WOULD ALSO BE A BETTER CHOICE .

    Like the others said, The model 67 probably won't hold up for too long...A rem 870 or a moss 500 will get you by for a while...When I started shooting trap , I used a double bbl Stevens mod 511, and an Ithaca 37. They were all I had back then. I saved and found a Beretta BL3 for $450.00... If the gun functions for now, Use it, ask for some tips and pointers from other trap-shooters,PRACTICE and save for a gun that will hold-up better and that Fits you better!....If you are PATIENT, you will find a deal, You don't need to spend a $1000. to find a good trap-gun.... I recently bought a Ruger Red-Label for $535.00.....Good-luck!,
