My wife bought a gun at a realestate auction.She didn't pay very much for it but I have never seen or heard of it.Maybe someone could point me in the right direction. Description: CAP-CHUR POWDER PROJECTOR PALMER CHEMICAL&EQUIPMENT CO.INC DOUGLASVILLE,GEORGIA,U.S.A 32 GUAGE SPECIAL. MFD BY HARRINGTON&RICHARDSON,INC. I do have a pic but for some reason can not post it. I did ask a local gun dealer and all he could tell me that it was probally made for a vetranarian?? If any one has any more info on this please let me know. THANKS..

I believe what She has is a Tranquilizer Gun...A Vetrenary Supply House might be able to tell You more.......

Had one a while back. Called H&R and they gave info on the Cap-Chur. Uses a Tranqulizer dart, powered by a blank in a insert. H&R can give you info how to get the insert. Can't get the other parts, dart without Vet's license. Sold mine to fellow that raises Buffalo.

The tranquiler gun was developed at the Univ. of Ga by a Forestry professor named Jenkins in the late 1950's. The dart and drugs used on the dart were developed by my old pharmacology professor, Dr. Seldon Feurte(pronounced Fort). At age 30 Dr. Feurte held 39 patents. He later was Dean of Univ. Tenn School of Pharmacy before dying of cancer at age 50[:(]

Trap... that is not true. .410 bore is closer to 68 gauge.

Bert, you are correct,My mistake, in Europe they refer to the 3" .410 as a 32 mag. and thats where my thoughts were when I posted. I'll see if i can find the reference data and post it. IBtrukin picked up a Zoli SxS with that marking on the barrels and that started the topic and research on the MC chat.
Berts44mag, Dcon has one of those single shot tranq. guns, maybe he can shed some light on what you have.

For some reason I thought a 410 was 36 gauge. I can't remember why or how I came up with that though.

Thanks for all your help guys.I knew it was a .410 cause i have one.I'm thinkin about puttin it up for sale but don't know if it would be worth anything or not.Anyway thanks for all the info i'll see if i can't get some more..

I finally talked to IB, it was a 36ga. that was refered to as a .410. Still can't find the link to the article tho.

The boys above were right, it is for sedating wildlife or domestic stock. Alot of these guns were converted from pellet guns and others are mfg'd just for there purpose. You may find them in ranges from 100-500 depending on what you have. Any person who raises wild life such as deer, elk or buffalo will be glad to relieve you of it, if they don't already have one.
