BAR with Reduced Loads

I have a Browning BAR in 300WSM. My 10 and 13 yr old sons like to shoot it, but, its just to much, still they want to try. I was thinking about trying some of Hogdon's "Reduced Loads" for them to shoot. My question is, will the 300 WSM BAR still cycle properly with a reduced load such as this,
130 GR. HDY SSP
DIA. .308"
COL: 2.720"

H4895 42.5 2554 f/s 28,400 PSI

    You will very carefully have to try it to see. My guess is that it will not work properly without tuning the rifle for this specific load. If rifle is tuned then you must not use it with full power loads.(Reduced power springs etc.)

    My suggestion is- Buy one in .243 for them to start out with.
    It will never go to waste when they move up to the 300WSM.

    I'm sorry, I didn't mean that this is the only gun for them to shoot. I have a Ruger Mini-30 in 7.62x39, Savage 7mm-08, Rem. 260 Rem and a Rem 30-06. The 06 I load up with reduced loads. They just want to shoot, everything. I just thought if I could load some "reduced Loads" for the 300WSM that would be more fun for them.

    This is a case where it would be nice to have an adjustable gas port like shotguns so the action will function with reduced loads.

    I know how kids like to shoot everything you have. My 13 year old grandson has to try everything too. He says the 458 Win hurts a little, so does the 375 H+H. He just had to try a 50bmg. He didn't complain, just said "it's cool".

    I imagine you could try some reduced loads that will still work the action.

    One of my BAR's is a 338WM with the B.O.S.S. He says it's not bad at all.
