AK Question
One of my Ak's that I have. Lately when I shot it, the trigger stings my finger. I pulled the cover and it looks like the bolt is hitting the rear trunnion. The recoil spring is fairly new (only have about 1000 rounds on it).
So my question is, Has anyone had or herd of a AK doing this. If so what was the fix.
Thank linthicum

New guy with question here.
I have a milled receiver AK stamped as follows:
Model SLR - 100
7.62 X 39
Arsenal Bulgaria
Intrac Knox TN
It's in excellent condition. I want to know the value of it or what I should expect to get for it if I want to sell it.
Thanks0 -
Yes, there will be plenty of them there, but keep in mind that only those that have bids will actually sell. Many will be at prices that won't get a single bid. 0 -
Roccomo;
A civilianized AK-47 with a milled reciever will bring a 20% premium compared to it's stamped counterpart. Back in the cold war days, when any warsaw pact weapon was worth it's weight in gold, they were the rifle to have. albeit, illegal, in most cases. Times have changed and these firearms now flow freely, no pun intended, from the former Soviet Union and it's satalites. In good condition, and properly de-milled to semi-auto, they are as reliable as any of the AK family. Some however, were crudely fitted and assembled from, by appearences, parts bins. These are palgued with functional problems.
If you have not fired this rifle, don't. Get it checked out by a gunsmith first. If it is functioning properly, good. They are good rifles, and usually early production, before the more economical stamping process was proven and adopted. Altough milled reciever versions were built for special units and customers, over the entire production life of the AK_47. Rifles with all matching serial numbers and original funiture with bring an additional 5-10%. In any case, you won't retire off the proceeds from it's sale, but, they are fun guns to shoot, if properly maintained will out last their stamped contemporaries, by decades.
Kill all the lawyers and the world will be much better for it.0 -
Those Bulgarian ones are on the market right now. $400-$600 depending on folding stock, threaded barrel, bayonet lug, and condition overall.
As already stated they are more desirable than stamped receivers for durability and fit. All Romanian ones on the market now are stamped and go for $300-$450 again depending on the above.

Howdy, welcome aboard.
Does it have a pistol grip or is it a "sporterized" synthetic stock with a thumbhole? Has it been modified to take double-stack high capacity magazines or will it take only single stack mags? These are a couple of the questions that have to be answered to evaluate the price.
Go to: http://www.ak-47.net/ and surf around until find the link to Arsenal,Inc. in Nevada and get their contact info. The best thing would be to call them on the phone during business hours and they will be able to explain exactly what you have. Educate yourself a little on the AK site, too, looking at the page that lists the different types of AK rifles and links to articles and specifications about many of them.
Good luck,
Frog.

Very interesting Python. I have shot it, the function is flawless and it is as accurate as my Winchester. I got it about 5 years ago and thought it was a new production rifle.

Frogbert, It looks like what you'd expect an AK to look like. It came with 'Real' old AK furniture. It takes the 30 round double-stack clip.0
