Colt 1851 Navy value? PICS

A friend of mine bought an original Colt 1851 Navy .36 cal pistol today. The serial number is 36090. Can someone tell me what year it was made?

He wants to know the value also. He's not wanting to sell it, but would like to know what it may be worth. To me, it looks to be in good condition. The blueing is gone and it has a nice gray finish to it. The wood handles look to be original. The serial number is stamped on all frame, barrel, cylinder, and other parts. The rifling looks good, some pitting but no rust. We'll know more about the barrel when we get it clean. The Naval scene on the cylinder is plainly seen.

    It was made in 1854. Pitting indicates that it was rusty, but someone removed the rust.

    Whatever your friend paid, that's the value.

    Rebel James, your 1851 Navy is a Third Model and was made in 1855.

    Blue Book value is in the $800-900 range.

    FranceF....we'll need to know a lot more about your revolver. Is it a .44 cal. 1860 Army, or a .36 cal. 1861 Navy. Please give us the Serial #, and all of the writing on it, exactly as it's written. Are the cylinders round or fluted? How many screws in the frame? Is there a "U.S." stamp and any inspector's marks? And.....condition, condition, condition!

    Can you post some nice, sharp, pictures of it????
