crimping sierra bullets with my lee loader

I reloaded some 30-30 ammo yesterday and used up my hornady 150 grain round nose bullets and so i finsihed with sierra round nose bullet (same weight). Both bullets have a cannileure. After I finished I took out my 30-30 classice lee loader and crimped the hornadys, but for some reason the sierras would not crimp. The crimp on the hornadys is very nice but no matter how hard i whack those sierras nothing goes. I just figured that crimping would only depend on the brass but I guess I was wrong. Note these are not the flat nose 150s sierra makes just for the 30-30 but some regular round nose 150 gr 30 cal bullets. Thanks for any insight.

    That's interesting and I've never had that problem before. Sorry I don't have the answer. If you doing everything the same, it should work. If not, look to see what's different. Is the brass the same make, length, etc? Are you loading for a lever action? If not, then a crimp isn't needed. If you are loading for a lever action, check to see if your loaded rounds work through the action OK. I've had bad luck with the Lee hand loader and lever actions. I use a full-length sizing die when I do those. Also, if using a Lee handloader, the brass should have been fired only in your rifle. If fired in another rifle with a larger chamber, the neck size only feature of your dies won't reduce the cartridge body enough to fit. Good luck and maybe another reader can offer the solution to your problem. If nothing else works...try a bigger hammer!

    You should post this in the old "paintball forum" there is a lot of reloading info there. Also a lot of reloaders are there too.

    Hello is the cannileur in the same place in relation to the end of case on both brands of bullets? some times the nose of two brands of bullets is a different shape so even thou the OAL is the same the cannileur will end up down in the case too far and you can't crimp into the full size bpart of bullet. Hold a bullet beside the case and see if it lines up with groove in bullet."PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN "
