    I recently bought a
    Remington 1100 serial # L0985xxV
Left side of the Barrel there is a star and then 12GA. For 2 3/4 in. shells
Right side of Barrel close to the receiver there is an L in a triangle
    REP in an oval
    M
    D

It has a 21" smoothbore barrel with rifle sights

When was it made? and what do the marks next to the receiver mean? Can you tell what choke is on it?
    Thank for the time.

on gun #2, you can remove the pad as follows: get a phillips screw driver size#2use some form of lubricant, wax, vaseline, etc. center of the pad approx1/2"from the top and 3/4" from the bottom, push in on the pad and i'll bet you find screws.

Thanks for the tip. It worked beautifully. I got the pad off, the stock tightened, and the pad back on. I'm still wondering about the ages of the shotguns, though.
