Thomson 1927 A1 drum mag
I have a 39 round drum (XL drum) for my Thompson and would like to know how many "clicks" this drum takes for proper winding. Kahr Arms says the 50 round drum is 9 or 10 clicks. But, they really didn't have a definite answer on the 39 round drum because they have never produced the 39 round drum. They stated the tooling for producing the 39 round drum was not part of the purchase when they took over production of the Thompsom SMG.

I just saw several USGI 39 round drums. One of the Seymour drums was stamped "Wind 9 to 11 clicks".

I saw the same info on the site you referenced. Someone else had suggested this site in another thread I posted. Very informative site. I agree that it seems a 39 round drum vs. a 30 round stick seems senseless. But, if you consider the weight difference from a 39 to a 50 it may be a plus for some. Thanks for your reply.

By the way, on the notpurfect site did you notice the stated weight of the 100 round drum when loaded? Fifteen pounds!!!!!!!!!!! Add that to the 12 or 13 of the gun itself and you have one heavy firearm. I can't imagine what that would be like to handle. I think the 50 round drum was listed at 8 pounds.0 -
The drum has the looks, but I must admit the sticks are easier to handle and load.
Glad to hear someone else has the ole 39 rounder, also.0
