Can I buy a bent bolt for a mauser 95?
Im working on sporting a chilean mauser 95 and im trying to find a bent bolt for it.I can only find bolts for the mauser 98.Does any one know if they make bent bolts for the 95?

thanks,it really doesnt matter which type of bolt as long is it will work so I can put a scope on it.I only gave one hundred dollars for the gun and the barrel is in great shape.I just want to get a scope mounted on it. 0 -
Bolts are not simply interchangeable. They must headspace precisely. So if you found a bent bolt it most likely woulnt work. If your present bolt is serial numbered to the gun it is most likely okay. Bolt handles can be altered to clear a scope by either forging it in a set of bolt forging blocks made to do this or by cutting off the handle and welding a new sporter handle on. You can buy handles from Brownells,Midway, or Gun parts Corp. You have to have the equipment and knowledge to do this. The thing to do is take it to a gunsmith and have him alter it by which method you agree on. If you buy an already altered bolt somewhere and it doesnt headspace properly then yo have created a much more complicated and expensive problem to correct.
To put the scope on it must be drilled and tapped for the base screws. THE GUNSMITH Will do it all at the time for a reasonable price usually.0 -

You will more than likely need to go to a gunsmith and get your bolt handle re-welded to allow for a scope. It is very hard to bend a bolt down to get it to fit inder a scope. TIG is the way to go with that. MIG doesn't get the penetration needed that TIG can get, and Gas gets the entire bolt very hot. Your Gunsmith will have the heat sink and paste but the less chemical change through heating the better.
Also, what DSO Cole said if you get a replacement bolt machined you may take off the hardening at the back of the lugs(thats where headspace is attained). If you have to add metal you then have to harden then heat treat. So, IMHO, TIG welding the bolt you have is the best. Get that done when your G'smith drills and taps your rifle for a scope. -Good luck

Thanks guys sounds like I need to take it to a gunsmith to obtain what im after.Im going to look for a local gun smith and if I cant find a good one then I might repost and ask for a good trust worthy guy to send the gun to. 0 -
