  a gun smith should be able to fix if this gun is built like a model 12 .The model 12 has rings that can be installed and removed to set head space.

  Remove the adjusting sleeve lock screw in the right side of the receiver extension, draw back the adjusting sleeve lock, turn back the adjusting sleeve one notch and replace the screw. If the joint is still loose, repeat the operation until tight.

  This may sound a bit silly,but is the barrel assembly completely installed.Meaning is the barrel tight against the receiver?

  these shotgus have a built-in adjustment for this like the above posters have said. if the adjustment ring that is on the gun has no more adjustment left, you have to go to the next higher adjustment ring (they made #1 -#6).

  Not sure about 97 but the Model 12 has extra heavy draw adjusting sleeves available to tighten worm adjustment sleeves. I replaced a worn standard one in an old Model 12 with the heavy draw successfully. The 97 probably is similar.

  I forgot to mention that the adjustment rings for the m-97 and m12 are identical

  I think I may have another heavy draw adjustment sleeve in my parts box. If memory serves I bought two pf them years ago and only used one. If you cannot find one e-mail me and I will check on it for you
