remington 396
Does anybody know how many of these were produced? There is very little info on the web about them and remington wont tell you untill the firearm is at least 20 years out of production or something like that. I bought a sporting clay model about 5 years ago but that is the only one that I have ever seen for sale.

According to the Blue Book, you have an uncommon high dollar shotgun, although they don't give any production figures.
They just say that Remington made them for only 2 years (1996/1998), and the value would be from $725 to $1875, depending on condition.

Thanks for the reply I am kind of curios to know how many were made because I have had the chance to buy several 1 of 1000 3200s and I own one that is unfired but the 396 that I have is the only one that I have seen for sale I tried too buy one when remington was offering them but I could never find one. the 396 has been shot but I would say that it is in 98% 0 -
The Remington 396 was Remington's Sporting Clays version of the Peerless. I have owned both and currently own a 396 Sporting Clays 30" barrels factory ported. I purchased used from a friend in 1998 for $1750. He is a master class shooter and went back to the Krieghoff. My 396 is serial # 9. I believe only 5,000 or so were made.
Again, it is mechanically identical to the Peerless. I love my 396 as it has great wood, shoots well, and fits me good (same length of pull as the 1100). However, it is not a particulary strong action. My Browning XS is a much tighter gun.
Mine is not for sale and it probably never will be. However, I would not give more than $1,250.00 for one in good condition on the used market. List was originally $2,596.00.
