Red Dot sights
There is a huge difference in the prices of red dot sights. $40 for the inexpensive ones. $300 for the holographics and upwards. What are the differences? Someone explained the concept of parallax to me today. How much does parallax really affect point of aim. It still has to be better than iron sights, right?

I'm getting a little older (who isn't) and my eyes just don't work like they used to. I'm considering getting a Millet red dot sight for one of my .22 target pistols. Any one have any experience with this or other red dots I would like to hear about them. Thanks. 0 -
Hello you did not state what gun you were mounting the red dot sight on This would make a big difference on what you might want to buy on a 22 rimfire rifle you could get by with a cheap scope but if you mount the dot on the slide of a 45 auto it better be one that can take recoil " higher dollar types ". The open type give you a better headsup veiw with both eyes open "SHOTGUN" but the tube type are IMHO are better in the rain . Then there is the dot size If you can't try out some of your friends to see what you like best go with something like an ULTRADOT it has changeable dot sizes and will take recoil . I bought a cheapy once for a slug barrel - it worked pretty good for the shotgun - 50mm, 11 brightness settings, etc. Handled all the 3" slugs I put it through. Its the old saying "You get what you pay for" I was willing to dump $40 on something I didn't really need for a long time and if I blew it up - so what. It just depends on your useage and what you're after.
