can someone please tell me????
the difference between a Beretta 3901 20 gauge, 391 20 gauge and 303 20 gauge????my son is in 4-H shooting sports and coaches like 391 youth, but $1000?? he is 10 years old and being a single mom don't know a whole lot about shotguns. any help would be greatly appreciated...lisa[:)]

The Berretta is a good high quality gun.In my opinion (for what its worth)
they are greatly overpriced. Ive been in this business many years. I dont know what he will use the gun for and use can affect decision. A Browning BPS 20 ga pump or a Remington 870 20 ga pump will serve him just as well for one third to one half the price.
Go to a good local gunshop and explain what you need and see if they wont help you.The coaches personal likes may not be suitable for everyone.0 -
A grand is a lot for a first time shotgun. Most people I know(not all) learned on a single shot for a couple years. If you want something that looks nicer than the barebones New England/ H&R's try looking into a Remington Spartan(20 or 28? guage.) They are a nice looking break action single shot.
Sometimes 4-H clubs can borrow or rent a gun from a local gun club. We do that here in MN. That way the kids get a chance to shoot without spending a lot of money before they find they like it or not. -Good luck

Look at Charles Daly 20 gauge semiautomatic... they come in youth models and full size. Just make sure that the shotgun will fit, that is when shoulder properly, he can see properly to point it, and that he can reach the trigger....... see if there is a sporting clays range or skeet or trap close by and go there and talk with the locals.... they normally will help out beginners and some have good used guns available....
