caliber 307?
Does anyone have any info about this caliber? There is one for sale in my local paper. Is this a typo? If there is such an animal what kind of numbers does it produce. The ad is for a Winchester 94XTR.

IIRC The 307Winchester cartridge is/was a RIMMED version of the 308Win. No, 308Win ammo won't work in it.
The bullet is still a standard 30cal (.308) diameter, and the round is more powerful than the 30-30.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
I think that most all .308win dies load the .307 as well, you just need the rimmed case carrier. The .307win should do everything that the .308 will do, which is more then most hunters need. 0 -
What these guys said is accurate and the .307 is not a bad round, but it is basically obsolete.

Bennett, these Winchester Model 94 Big Bores (307, 356, and 375) are hard to come by and they are very collectable in excellant condition. If the price is right you should buy it. 0 -
Here is some info.
All previous facts were correct.
307 Winchester rimmed cartride developed in 1980 for the Winchest 94XTR Angle Eject lever carbine. Rifles were not available until 1983. Marlin 336ER also available for this round. This is certainly a 200 yard deer cartride. The only factory loading from Winchester is for a 150 grain bullet. This is the bullet weight in the following charts which show the numbers.
