#10 Caps to big for nipples
I have a replica 1860 colt army. I purchased this gun used and my gunsmith said I got a real good deal. Only problem is the #10 caps seem to be too small and fall off the nipples. This gun is about 25 years old and I was wondering if maybe the nipples were metric? could replacing them make a difference? Thanks.

If #10s are too big it is definitely time to change the nipples. You have to determine what the thread size is on your gun.
Dixie Gun Works carries all kinds of nipples.
You could mail one of your nipples in to Dixie and they would fix you up with replacements.0 -
Try #11's......that's what I use on my Colt 1860 Army

Your headline says #10 caps are too big. The text says #10 caps are too small.
Which is it?
#11 caps are bigger than #10. The #11 caps are standard on the cap and ball revolvers.
If #10 caps are actually too small, time to get new nipples.0 -
Sorry, a little type error on the second line. The caps are too big or the nipples are too small and the caps fall off! 0 -
