regular charcole lighter fluid (not lighter fluid) and a thumbnail works great. will not hurt metal or plastic finishes.

If you can't run with the BIG DOGS stay on the porch!!

gotta agree with AJC, wd-40 removes just about any adhesive without harnming any plastic or finish

Just keep the WD40 off your cartridges. It ruins primers. Several years back a NJ State trooper died when his freshly cleaned (with WD40) sidarm wouldn't fire.

WD40 is great for sticky locks and hinges but I wouldn't let it even see any of my firearms.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover, part number 08984, is safe on just about anything and removes adhesives like crazy.

I use a product called "GOO-GONE". It is designed to do just that- remove stickers and the adhesive. Smells better than lighter fluid, too. Haven't had it affect anything I've used it on (yet[;)]. Got mine at Home Depot, probably at Wally World, too.
