Remington 700 ADL

I am looking in to buying one of these in ether .270 30-06 or 7mm rem mag. any feedback about them would be great.

    Hello,

    I bought a new Remington 700 on clearance at WallyWorld. New in the box (sealed). I went and tried to shoot. it clicked and i could see the firing pin on the back of the bolt going forward and clicking when the trigger is pulled. Howerever it did not fire. It did not even dimple the primer. I called Reminton and they sent out another firing pin. I have not tried to fire the rifle yet.

    Has anyone ever heard of this?

    Do you think it could be the headspace?

    Good rifle for its purpose. What are you going to hunt and where. That will determine best caliber to acquire. The 270 and 30.06 are more than adequate for most game in NA. The 7mm tends to be just too hot for my needs. The 7mm is a great round, I just don't need it.

    I have two of them one in .270 ADL Composite stock and then 7mm ADL with wood stock. Both shoot great and are very accurate. I went with the 3x9x40 VXI Leupold for $199 to top them off.

    I live in western washington. Im looking for a rifle to hunt every thing from coyote to deer, elk and maybe a black bear

    Better hurry up if you want a new one, Remington is going to drop it!
    I've owned several over the years, all used and all in .222 Rem. Very accurate by which I mean with 4/5 inch with my non fussy reloads. I never liked the black forend cap on the BDL.

    I have a adl wood, built in 1983 in 7mm- mag. It has been a great gun.Although a great plenty for most of the game you listed, it should also do a good job on elk. With that said both .270 and 30'06 are also up to the task.

    I was an avid 30;06 fan until my ADL in 270. It is the perfect cartridge up to elk. I reload and get very close to the 7MM performance. Your on the right track. Good luck.

    best kept rifle "secret" (not really) the ADL!!! Best shooting rifle out of box. Just wrote nasty letter to Remington for discontinuing.

    If you are a one gun guy---I did the math---7mm is very hard to beat---all around!

    I use the 7mm Mag for everything here in the Northwest. Last year a friend and I went to Prince George Canada Moose hunting. I shot a 4 year old with the 7mm and my friend out did me using a 270. I do know that the 30.06, if you plan to reload, has more options with bullet weight so you can tame it way down for the dogs then go with the 200 grain for elk, moose.
