High Standard Pistol Question
Bobski and others - At a gun show last Nov. I purchased a model 107 Trophy grade, serial 1973840. Have fired it several times, but cold weather came to central Iowa and haven't fired it since. This winter I began learning about cracked frames. Have now stripped it, checked with a 10X glass and find no evidence of any cracks. I will only shoot standard velocity ammo.
Since I don't know how old it is or how much it has been fired, should I have a new recoil spring installed?
Thanks much. - Jim

Hello at the price of a spring .I think both MIDWAY and Brownell's sell a replacement. I would go for a new one I have shot High Standards for over 30 years appr. 5 K per year not all in same pistol but i have never cracked a frame I suspect most cracked frames come from STINGERS etc......They are great pistols. 0 -

If you're really concerned about cracks, you can disassemble the pistol and take the frame, slide, & barrel to any automotive machine shop and have them magnaflux it. 0
