Question on Armalite 180B
I was on a forum in which the posters were discussing the Ruger Mini-14's lack of accuracy. Several posters suggested buying the Armalite instead. I saw one at a gun show and liked it. But, I had some concerns.
I have never owned a polymer gun of any kind. So, I am concerned as to how the lower receiver of the rifle holds up versus metal or should I not be concerned with about this?
I am not looking for a tack driver or long distance varmit slayer. Maybe just a plinker and sort of self defense type .223. But I don't want a rifle that patterns as if I was shooting a shotgun. Is this rifle, in terms of accuracy, the same as the mini-14 or a little better. Any observations you can supply will help me make up my mind.
Okay, no one has answered thus far. So let me ask, what is the purpose of this rifle? Why not just make the AR-15, why make this rifle?

NOTPARS: The AR180B is the 4th generation of AR180 rifles. Costa Mesa, Sterling and HOWA all made pre ban configuration rifles. Armalite has reintroduced the rifle as the AR180B. The first production runs had problems that Armalite corrected. It is less exspensive to make than the AR15 rifles and use the same mags as the AR15. The gas action is better on the AR180 than the AR15. There is alot of history behind the AR180. I like the rifle alot and have both the Sterling and HOWA and have looked at the 180B. It is more accurate than the stock Mini 14. My 2 cents. [8D]

I had mini-14, got an 180B, and the 180B was much more accurate. Sold the Mini, still like the 180B and it shoots good. Nuff Said
