One Last Quick Ballistics Question

When measuring the height of your sights...I know its from center bore but to what? Center of the lens on a scope? The bottom of the scope. My AR15 is outfitted with a scope on top of the carry handle. When measured from center bore to center of the lens..its 3.5 inches. Is that the correct way to measure?

  Distance between the center of the bore and center of the scope. This is the distance between the axis of the bore and the line of sight (LOS).
  
  If your center to center measurement is 3.5-inches, the bullet will start its flight at -3.5-inches below the LOS.
