Double Barrel Shotgun Question
I have a Savage Springfield Model 511. Thirty years ago I would push that lever on the stock to open it but could then just snap it shut. Now I have to push that lever sideways to open OR shut it. There doesn't seem to be a good way to get inside the area involved. Is it gunsmith time?

My uncle gave me an old double barrel 12-gauge shotgun with two hammers with no manufacturer's name. It has Model 235 on the bottom of the receiver and Chicopee Falls, Mass, USA on the side of the receiver. The serial number is 778XX. Can anyone tell me what manuafacturer (e.g. Stevens) and the approximate date of manufacture, history, etc.

sounds like a j stevens 235 late 1800s/early 1900s. recently saw one on gun broker described as decent "shooter". have it checked out before you fire it.[:)] 0
