Chrome Bore Determination ?

I have been in and out of several dozen SKS and AK rifles. Different models/origins, and feel real comfortable with evaluating them....until my neighbor asked me how I could tell if the bore was chromed. I sat back and thought for a while, looked into a few I had around, even took one to his office (a prof at the vet school) and feed a 'video scope' down the bore. Other than feeding the 'video scope' down the cleaned bore of a nearly new ChiCom being very interesting, I was no farther along for an answer.

I can tell him that "w/o corrosive ammo, it doesn't matter much", or its just a "mil-style f'arm that will generally go in the desired direction" I am no closer to a real answer.

Any help appreciated.

  Most of the time "for me" if you look at the crown of the bore, (sometimes you need a magnifying glass) you will see the edge of the Chrome liner in the bore. For the rifles that have a recessed bore, then you need to look at the breech end, it's harder to see. But with some good light and magnification, I think you will see it.

  Usually if you take off the muzzle break or flash suppressor you can just see the edge of it on the muzzle, right next to the bore.
