Ruger #1 Black Recoil Pads

I am looking at a Ruger #1 B that has a black recoil pad on it. The owner said that Ruger put these on the 1 B models. I have seen some B's with the red pads. Looking for information of these black pads. Thanks

  The only info I have is from the "Red Eagle News Exchange". It states, " the red recoil pad was changed to black sometime between s/n 132-29792 and 133-08628".
  
  Hardly narrows it down, thats a 10 year run. A long transition period.
  
  So, I guess pre 132-29792 would be red. Post 133-08628 would be black. In between could be either.

  Hello,
  2xbyu has it right. Older #1s of all models are red, newer ones are black. I have a #1 AB with a red recoil pad. There is probably an extended transition period from red to black. I called Ruger a year or so ago and was told that there are not any replacment red recoil pads available.
  
  Worry is the interest humans pay on the debt of miscalculation.
