turkish mauser small dia.shank receivers

Pardon me if this is dumb. As I learned last week from the gunsmiths, I can't use my Rem. 700 barrel on a large ring mauser. A suggestion was made about using a small shank turkish action. The next problem is how one finds some turkish mausers that have the correct sized threads. The 1938 actions that I have have regular LR threads. These turks are very confusing to me. Are there any sites on the net that might help me? I appreciate your help and patience.

  No Mauser has the correct thread pattern to use with your Rem 700 barrel, un-altered. You often see on fleabay where folks have cut the threaded shank off a Rem 700 barrel and re-machined it to the correct spec for the small dia thread pattern that the Turk '38 uses. You also have to rechamber the barrel also. Small ring Mauser have a .98" dia where the large ring pattern uses a 1.10" dia at the threaded shank. It seems that there are quite a few take off Rem 700 barrels out there that folks are looking to do something with.

  The small shank Turk Mausers are threaded for the Metric equivalent of .980 O.D. and 12 "V" threads per inch. The Remington barrel has a shank thats larger in diameter and threaded for 16 "V" threads per inch.
  
  I believe there has been a miscommunication in this matter, i.e. your going to have the Remingtons barrel shank turned down and rethreaded to fit a Turk Mauser action.

  About 50 years ago, I built a mountain rifle using a Mexican Mauser action and a cut down Springfield barrel chambered to .308. If you could find one of these actions, I think you could fit the 700 barrel to it. It has an extremely small receiver ring.

  There is no confusion here at all. I explained the difference to him in this thread from a couple of days ago and Mike Wiskey agreed also. And yes, there are some 'smiths that convert Remington barrels for use on the Large Ring Mausers that have Small Ring threads.
