    A custom stock can cost just about any price you can think of. Low end plastic injection molded stocks start at $39.99 go to hundreds of dollers. Custom wood stocks start with laminates at like $70 and go to hundreds of dollars. Nice wood, like walnut and maple start at $50 and go to many hunderds of dollars. Next you have to inlet and bed for the barreled action. In buying a custom rifle from a first class craftsman you can usually figure on spending more for the stock then the metal. So I'd say that unless you can do your own stock work that custom stocks aren't worth while unless you are going whole hog and getting a custom rifle built. This is because unless you are using a quality stock blank, expertly fitted, you are not likely to add value to your rifle in either performance or looks.

    You can spend as little as $75 on a laminated stock or up to $500 for an exhibition grade walnut or maple. Every stock I've bought from them is 100% fully inletted. Just need sanding and finishing. You can order them with recoil pads installed, as well as swivel studs.

    Finishing them yourself is quite do-able if you have the patience. Most good gunsmiths will also offer to refinish, but the price is high. I charge $500 to $700 to finish a stock, and that's without any checkering. I can email you a paper on stock refinishing if you decide to go this route. Have a great day!
