Winchester 88 Carbine
Does anyone know the approx. production #'s for the model 88 carbine in the 3 calibers: .243, .308, .284? They seem to be tough to find. Thanks for any info.

can't really answer your question but with only 284,000 total 88's made and with the carbine being made just the last 5 years of production,(68-73) there can't be to many of them out there 0 -
Uintah,
The carbines aren't really "rare" but they are tough to find.
They were very popular when they came out and as a result many have suffered heavy use.
On the other side is the couple hundred that surface every year on this site and at table shows that are in very good condition.
Erroneously the 284 is the most difficult to find at a decent price. All three calibers were produced in like numbers.
It seems to me there were approx 36,000 made.0 -
Not an answer to the question, but I owned an 88 carbine in .308 and it was the loudest dang rifle I ever did own! I know it was a collector piece but I sure was glad to send that one on to a new owner!!!! 0 -
Production years are 1968 to 1970 and only 7010 were made according to the manual by Douglas Murray 0
