bob, i've had two 22mag &1 30-30 with micro-groove in my shop, for wide/eratic groups. cop-out,or simular copper fouling removers seem to clear the problem up. the micro-groove barrels for the 22lr don't seem to have this problem.

    Fixyurgun,
I don't think fouling is the problem. I routinely clean with either Sweet's or JB.
One of my friends has a .44 that has the same problem as mine but another friend has a .35 that shoots anything. My 30-30 will handle most any bullet.
When I first got the .44 I called Marlin and they told me to send it back with a target. First box of factory ammo I picked up were Black Talons. At 50 yards the first three tore a big ragged hole. I pulled bullet and Black Talon mikes .430. That was when I went to XTP bullet.
I would like to get the .35 to handle 200gr bullets for hogs but may have to stick to 180 gr
    Thanks
    Bob

Just for poops and grins you could try 180gr Nosler made for 35whelen .358 . The thicker coper mite help. They work good in all of my 35 rem. Marlin 35 336 remington 81 and contender 14in ported

I have a Marlin 30-30. Are you saying that I shouldn't expect any decent accuracy out of it? Only shot it at the range a year ago or so.

    Larry,
My Marlin 30-30 has given excellent accuracy, also the Mod. 39 .22 Caliber but the .44 and .35 are super finicky. However, they shot very well with the bullets that I finally settled on.
