drillings experts?? European Caliber ??

Howdy ya all,
Just found a sauer Drillings 16x16 over a calliber ive never seen. Specs out at 11.25(45)x65mm. Any idea what this cartridge is?? Ive checked all my european lists, but cant find anything fitting those specs. The measurements were taken off 1 of the 2 cartridges left in the buttstock of the rifle.
Any help is welcome!

    If this is a rimmed cartridge, then it's possible that it could be an 11.2 x 65R Collath. Otherwise, you might measure in English decimal and see if we can't get closer.

    Cal. = 11.2

    ok. This is the most unusal rifle ive seen in years. Nice grade JP sauer, but it was made for a righthanded left eye shooter. The stock curves at the tang then bends back, offseting the rifle about 3". All the metal and triggers curve perfectly to fit the stock. Wish I could post pics, its amazing.

    That is a great example of a crossover stock! The work and the detail that had to go into the creation of such a thing is unbelievable. Stock bending as a practical art is fading away, unfortunately. But there is going to be a week long course taught at Tishmingo this year and hopefully this will stimulate more interest in this as a solution for folks with visual problems.

    I have been looking into the cartridge a bit more and I wonder if it isn't some form of mild wildcat since it is in such a highly customized firearm? Or is it really just a Collath? Is it possible that it is just another case blown out to accommodate a larger diameter bullet and then trimmed down a little? The lack of information on the rim is a bit confusing also. If it was a 9.3x72R or 74R, the rim should reflect that even if it was trimmed down and blown out. I guess that in my meager way, I'm stumped, so I suggest that you try:
