264 win mag vs. 270 weatherby
I am planning a project to rebarrel a commercial FN mauser action. I have narrowed the list to these two. Any pro and con experience is appreciated.

I would go with the Win Mag for ammo availability and cost. Barrel life is relatively short with either cartridge. The .264 is a good 500 yd Antelope cartridge, good for P Dogs too.

It is stricly personal preferance. There are a good choise of bullets for both. They are very much allike ballisticly!![:)]

i'd go with the 264, i have 3 of them. different guns though, when it comes time to reloading you'll go broke by the weatherby brass, i load my win mags for about 4.25 a box and shoot sub 1 moa at 100yds 0 -
I'm a long-time .264 Mag fan, but even if I weren't the cost of the Weatherby brass and ammo would put me off. If you don't plan to shoot it much then the cost of brass or loaded ammo is less of a factor. 0
