Is one ammo better for the Walther ppk/s

I'm hard-headed so while most warned me about the Walther ppk/s, I got it anyway due to a good price. I took it out to the range and shot some cheap Winchester FMJ (the ones with the blunt tips) and in the 1st hundred rounds I bet I had 10 jams. Side note: 100 rounds is painful in that little bugger. A couple that jammed going up the chambering ramp and some that got half way in the chamber before they jammed. It may be the ammo so I am going to give it one more try tomorrow. Does anyone know if there is a recommended bullet to use? I am use to my Glock that will shot peanuts if they are the right caliber.

    I can't believe this. I have ppk/s that will shoot anything. and well. it really likes winchester silvertip hollowpoints. this can't be real.

    Is your's an older model or one that is new being manufactured by S&W? Mine is one of the newer models. And as for the ammo, I ones I used were not the hollowpoints, they were FMJ. Tomorrow I plan to only shoot hollowpoints.

    First, it could be the magazine BUT I've owned in my life 7 PPK-PPKs and NEVER had an unreliable one. NEVER! OK I really can't believe it and as for who warned you? Sorry, just can't believe it.

    I have been shooting/selling Walther PPK & PPK/S for many years and have never seen a jam or had a customer complain of such; I am sure it happens, just never seen it.

    Smith & Wesson is the sole distributor in the US for Walther. S&W does not manufacture the firearms.

    Before further shooting, lightly lube the slide/frame contacts. It sounds as though the slide is not going all the way back upon firing. If it continues to jam with other styles/brands of ammo, return to you dealer for repair.

    I have found that the most reliable in mine have been Federal Hydroshock; in virtually all older style pistols that i have, Hydroshocks and Remmington Golden sabres seem to work the best.

    I did have a PPK/S in .32 acp that would not stay open after the last shot, and would also slide over the round without grabbing it and chambering it. I tried different mags, same problems. Factory tried 2x to fix it, and ultimately, offered to replace it with a new S&W .380 model (for a little bit more $).

    I have several PP's, PPK/S, and PPK's and never had one jam, including ones I'v purchased from others who claimed they jammed.

    Not meaning to insult you or anything, but is it possible you are limp wristing the gun when you are shooting? If you don't hold it out firmly, it can give you problems.

    I bought my PPK/S new in 1994. I use Winchester USA FMJ and Winchester silvertips both with no problems.

    Bought mine in the '70s sometime and never had a jam (that I can remember) ... sure bet you liked hearing that! Try another flavor ammo and if it continues ... off to the smith. They are generally pretty foolproof.

    Take the mag apart and clean it thoroughly. Think it might want a new spring?

    A member recommended using "hot" ammo; he mentioned Corbon.
    I have not tried it, though. I use S&B FMJ or some premium self-defense round (sorry, the manufacture excapes me at the moment).

    Only had one. PPK/S in .380. Would jam with any type of HP. Not often but enough to make you leery of depending on it. FMJ 90 gr. ball - set up a belt feed and that sucker would fire as long as there was ammo. Friend had the same pistol at the same time and had the same problems. We always thought it was maybe the two stage feed ramp. That little baby was neaternhell to look at and hold, accuracy was OK but ultimately got rid of it because of the HP jamming problem.
