Benelli SBE vs Franchi 912
I'm trying to decide between the Benelli Super Black Eagle [:D] and the Franchi 912 [:p]. Both seem almost identical in everything except price, and price doesn't matter at this point. Both are 3 1/2" mag, 24" Vent Rib, with camo pattern. Have any of you experts got a word of advice for me[?]
Also, I was told the Benelli SBE is the top auto-loading shotgun in production, period. Is this true[?]

I own an SBE and really like it. It will handle any 12 gauge load made without having to mess with the gas o-ring like I need to do with my 11-87, because it is recoil operated. I don't know anything about the Franchi.

For price, it's the Franchi. For performance and shootability I think it's the Benelli. Seems a couple guys had a Franchi a few years ago, so may be a different model. Seems to me the words " kicks like a mule" came up. They both are fairly light for 12 ga. but it seems the Benelli has an advantage of handling recoil better.
Plus, Bennelli seems to be legend, as most who have them either hang on to them or trade up to a newer model.0 -
Franchi's have a slight reputation of being complicated and have fairly many parts.
I own a Benelli Super Black Eagle and love it.
Love to shoot it, love it's simplicity and superb quality.
Compare that to the Franchi you know - Take your time to handle each one, see what fits YOU !
Ask the dealer to take it apart (as new, some parts might seem stuck), see which one you think you can live with and which one seems like the better gun.
Benelli is simple - few parts, which makes it fast in cyclingrate and very reliable too, durn near unbreakable - and real easy to clean.
Weapon is wide open in disassembled state, plenty of room to clean it.
Triggergroup, bolt and receiver have only few parts, easy to dry out and oil down.
Gun can be assembled in 15 secs.

Bolt is slid into the receiver, barrel ready to slide onto the receiver.
Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.

I have the SBE and when my son lets me shoot it, it works flawlessly.

Thanks to all that responded. I went ahead and bought both the Benelli SBE and the Franchi 912. The Benelli is certainly the best, quite unbelievable compared to anything I've ever shot before. Liked the FRanchi also but I'll be recommending the SBE to all. 0 -
congrats on your buy...i can only vouch for the SBE...but i guarntee its going to bring many many years of unmatched performance.
