    The designation S22L; from the introduction of the Ruger Number 1; with beavertail forearm and sights was later called the 1-AB. The new catalog numbers took place in 1971.

    It looks like most #1-ABs are scarce. Most notable are the non-prefix guns. .222, .22-250, .243, 6mm, any 22" .25-06, .270, .280, 7mm, 7X57, .30-06, .308 .

    My first # 1 was a #1AB in 270. I think it is quite attractive. Some of the best wood I have seen in a #1. It is an excellent shooter and gets more than a few comments around the hunting camp. When I bought it I didn't know a A model from a B model, I just liked the looks of it. Good luck
