SW 99????
Anyone have one? I'm looking at one in 9mm or .40 for a duty weapon. The weapon has a good feel and reasonable quality. Any thoughts? Thanks

The S&W 99 is their version of the Walther P-99. The S&W version is a Walther frame with a S&W slide. From reports that I have read, the S&W does not quite stack up to the Walther version. Almost but not quite. FTF and FTE issues have come up. I suspect it may be the ammo being used.
With the interchangeable backstraps, it can be configured to fit most hands. Getting used to the mag release in the trigger guard came almost second nature, and is quicker (in my opinion) to work. If you like a polymer frame (lighter gun) and no exposed hammer, you would probably like it.
The only complaint I have is the position of the decocker. It is awkward to get to, and use. I don't know if the S&W has different trigger profiles, like the Walther. If it does, make sure you get the one you want. I have the Walther version, and have only the one complaint.
