Marlin scope
A while back I picked up an old model(pre safety) Marlin 336 in 30-30 caliber. It was almost unused condition. Still had a sticker on stock that said it was American walnut. It has a Marlin 4x32 scope. Scope is Model 425A. I have never seen a Marlin scope before this. Who made them [?]

Anybody know anything about a Marlin target type scope probably built in the 60's with 4 to 6 power with fixed crosshairs and exterior adjustments (like Lyman target)? Value etc. 0 -
Sounds like a rimfire scope. 4x32??? Marlin used to have various models of their rimfire rifles available with a scope. I've seen a model 80 with a Marlin marked rimfire scope, similar to the little $10 walmart jobs made by Tasco and BSA. 0 -
I do remember Marlin offering a "package" scope, mount and rifle deal for the centerfire 336's. The scopes were 4 pwer 32 mm objective 1" tubes private-labeled for them, I suspected by Tasco, but don't know or remember for sure. 0 -

This is a scope made for a high power rifle. It is fixed 4 power with 32 m/m Objective. Very clear and a good hunting scope for these piney woods

According to Stroebel, Marlin last marketed scopes in 1978. He does not list a model 425A (or any 425), but does list a 400 which is a 4x made from 1069-1978, 1" tube diameter. Valued in 2000 at $45-$85 depending upon condition. There is no indication of actual manufacturer and it may be difficult to find out. You could ask Marlin, but whether anyone there would know or if they would tell you seems doubtful. It was almost certainly sourced from Japan. 0 -
i also have a marlin scope its on a big bore 375 and 1 1/2 X 5 var.it has only marlin on it and nitrogen filled has 3 posts instead of crosshairs. hedgehopper62 0
