Systema 1927 vs. Rock Island

I need to know from anyone who has both or has shot both which is the better pistol?

    I'd definately go with the Systema, given equal condition of both. I put that little qualification clause in there because a new Rock Island would be preferable to a junker Systema. But, the Systema would have to be pretty bad before I'd chose the Rock Island over the Systema. But..a Rock Island is definately better than no .45 at all!

    IMHO the SYSTEMA 1927 is a much better pistol from a parts interchange factor. "PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

    The Systema 1927 was a license-built copy of the Colt M1911A1 built on Colt supplied machinery which was set up by Colt technicians.

    I've shot and handled a bunch of 27's and IMO they have the fit, finish, and quality of pre-war Colt Government Models.

    Given equal condition, I'd take the Systema, hands down.

    I don't mean to hijack the thread, but is $299. a good price for a Systema with a custom barrel, but alot of wear on the gun?

    Have owned 8 (I think) Systema 1927s - used to use them for trades back when it was common to find one for less than $100! Still the best value for your $$$ today (I think)! Wish I had bought ALL I had a chance to buy!

    I don't know where you can find a really nice systema for anything close to what you can get a rock island for. I bought a systema about a year or so ago, from one of the big wholesalers, and it had a worn barrel, worn grips, barrel wasn't numbered to the gun, slide lock was broken, and the pistol overall had seen better days. I believe that I paid $345.00 or thereabouts.

    Frankly, there is no mystical swamp water that goes with these things...
