Colt Single-action Army
I found a Colt today. The serial number puts the manufacture date at 1960/1961. However, its chambered for 32/20 and the books do not indicate they made it in that caliber. Is it possible they made some this way? The owner is asking $1500 but his best offer has only been $1,000.
If this gun is original, do you have any idea what it would it be worth?

Here's the best that I can do: Colt has always been know for the odd variant and exception to the rule. You are correct that an examination of the accepted collector books like "Blue Book of Gun Values" does not state .32-20 as a production item. But, they do acknowledge special orders and exceptions. So, your question as to whether or not the revolver is authentic or not can only really be answered by obtaining a Factory Letter. Since you are interested in such a "high ticket" item, I have to assume that you know something about Colt S.A.A.s, and that the gun you are looking at has "SA" after the serial number, which makes it a 2nd Generation. If it is just a serial number alone without the "SA" it is a 1st Generation, and .32-20 was a production item. Without knowing if the gun is authentic it is impossible to establish a value. 0
