Korean 30-06 ammo
This question may have been posted in the pass but I have just learned that there has been some bad experiences with Korean surplus ammo. I have brought some of this surplus almost two years ago but haven't gotten around to use any of it yet. Any information on this? Is there any truth to it? If so, was it a bad lot(s) or bad manufacturing practices?

cisco..... I have bought a couple cans of the Korean 30-06. So far I have had no problems with it.
I have fired it in my bolt O3A3, mag fed BAR, and belt fed 1919A4 and it worked fine in all of them.

The Korean ammo is ok. Just be sure to give your gun a good cleaning after you finish shooting.
Stay away from the ammo stamped

I have used it too, and it seems to work in a Garand just fine. I agree with the cleaning part, since you don't know if it is corrosive or not if you don't test it. 0 -
I too have experienced good luck with this ammo already loaded in garand clips in 386 round cans. I've shot at least 1200 rounds of it. Just give each round a good look before you shoot them. I have found some that are dented so bad they wouldn't feed. Just a few though. All others shot fine and defineately clean the weapon after shooting.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and some safety tips with the korean surplus ammo. I will take a little more time to inspect each round; Spring is near and I can already start to smell gunsmoke at my local gun range. Thanks again and Good Shooting. 0 -
I have fired Korean ammo out of my M1917 and it has worked great. Relatively clean, no duds, and acceptable accuracy.
Use caution though because there is both corrisive and non-corrosive Korean ammo avaialable. I think the non-caustic ammo is headstamped "PS" which is actually PMC.

Be advised that there are two types of the Korean ammo on the market. One type is listed as "mildly corrosive". This kind of like being "kind of pregnant". Either it is or it isn't. I have talked to distributors who are guaranteeing that their product is noncorrosive. Beware of those better deals.

I too have used this ammo without incident. I am please with the accuracy based on military, foreign manufactured ammo. So far so good. I agree with several other to clean the rifle after firing this ammo "just in case" 0 -
PS headstamped is non-corrosive and is usually found in 20 rd boxes.
KA headstamped is what is corrosive, and what you often see listed as "mildly corrosive". This is what comes loaded on the garand clips.0 -
The problem with the Korean ammo isn't if it's corrosive or not. It's which one has blown up rifles! Stay away from the PS stamped ammo!
