Browning Buckmark Camper for plinking
I'm new to this forum and am not sure if this has already been a topic so bear with me. I'm looking to buy a 22lr pistol to take out and target shoot with. I've looked at the Ruger P512 and the Buckmark Camper and fired a S&W 622. All that I've heard about the Buckmark is positive, but would like any opinions. It's not for self defense or to sit in a case, but I want it to be reliable and accurate. Thanks for your time.

I have been shooting Browning Buckmart pistol for years and have put more then 10,000 rounds down range with one. It has been flawless in its operation. The Ruger too is a good 22, but taking them down and putting them back together can be a bear. I would go with the Browning.

both are fine guns and will do what you want , myself I prefer the Ruger , but them I have a thing for Rugers[:D] if you haven't done so all ready you can do a search here and on other auction sites for them , some times you will find one that is selling for less than what you can buy it local 0 -
You can't go wrong with either one.I have both,and although both are very accurate,like Target mentioned,the Ruger is a bit of a test to reassemble,but then until you've run a gazillion rounds through it,you shouldn't need to.

The Browning is a more modern design. Mine has about a gabillion rounds through it. It shoots all ammo well. I just hose it out with WD-40 every so often and keep shooting it. It really shoots well for such a economical pistol. 0 -
Another vote for the Buckmark. Mine is accurate with everything I have put through it. Great gun.

I, too recommend the Buckmark. I've had mine for about 15 years- It's a great pistol, accurate and reliable. Recently I "strayed" and paid 850.00 for a S&W 41. I guess I was looking for that "greener" grass on th other side.... but you know what? I think I like the Buckmark better than the S&W- and you can buy 3 or 4 Buckmarks for that price! 0 -

I saw one used in 99% for $235. I paid $270 for one a couple years ago.
The same shop jacks up the price around Christmas.
It was my first firearm, and I took a good long time before choosing it.
It will cycle almost any ammo; I buy CCI MiniMags, 100-round boxes, for $3.500 -
I own a Browning Buckmark Standard. It's a hell of gun for a 22lr. I love this gun. I put a rail on top with a cheap red dot, and now I can put 10 shots in the size of a quarter at 50 feet (standing, shooting free hand). It's never really had any issues to speak of. I can't tell you anything about the Ruger or the Smith. I haven't owned or shot either one of those. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks to all for your responses! I did the deed this afternoon. The Buckmark was pretty much already decided on and your opinions were what tipped the scale. $235 at a warehouse store and ready for much can destruction tomorrow. I'm interested in the rail set-up and scope or red dot that DBAR15 mentioned and maybe more of you have. Info on where to buy parts, what's better out to 50 yards, any preferences on the makes and models for both rails and scopes/red dots. Thanks again for all of your time! tigguy 0 -
I own one. I like it very much. It is what I teach new shooters with. I recommend going with the Buckmark unless you find a really good deal on a High Standard. It is a solid well built pistol.
