Just curious Dad. I had to ask 0 -
According to my reference these specific 03 Springfields that were manufactured to take the Pedersen device were known as "Mark 1's".
Only 102,000 were manufactured between 1918 & 1920. The price range depends on "ORIGINAL" arsenal condition, and is between $600 & $2500.

Rufe,
That is correct. The Mark 1 has an ejection port milled into left side of receiver. Most Pederson devices were destroyed after WW1 and the Magazine cutoffs replaced with standard O3 parts. I think if memory serves that the magazine cutoff was the only part that was different but I may be wrong. The few surviving Pederson Devices are extremely rare and valueable. Unfortunately my Mark 1 was rebarreled during WW2 so I have a 1918 receiver and 1944 barrel

See the link for a good article on the Pedersen device.

You may find a reference to this device in San Antonio, Texas. The rifle is interesting to a collector who wants something different. They do not shoot any better or worse than the standard 1903. [8D]
