S&W model 27 value

wondering if anyone would have any idea what a
S&W model 27 / with 8 3/8'' barrel would be worth?
I bought the gun new about 20-22 yrs. ago....
it came in a presentation case. I fired 12 rounds thru it
then put the gun back in the case. other than taking it out
to wipe it down, it's never been fired since.
It is in XXX MINT condition.Also i forgot to mention it's
blue finish with gold inlaying on both sides of gun

    second question....i found a web site for Ruger firearms
    that has a way to get an apprx. age on the weapons according to the serial number...does anyone know if S&W has something like that ??

    S&W does not.

    The Smith and Wesson Collectors Assoc. has a site, but you have to be a member.

    Best general source for S&W info. is the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson. Most libraries have copies or you can buy one for about $30

    I know this can be regional, but used model 27's without a box sell for over $400 around here. A presentation box and gold inlay would push the price up over $600, or higher, here. They were one of S&W's best guns.
