Red Dot Scope Brightness

Was out hunting Pheasants last Saturday and was using a 1" red dot scope on my shotgun. It was too light out for the scope. Even with a fresh battery and full powere the dot wasn't bright enough for quick aquisition. The conditions were bright sun and snow on the ground.

My scope is a cheap one which I am sure is part of the problem. I want to replace it.

Question: Who makes the brightest red dot scope with the biggest dot size? Any suggestions and or comments are welcome.

    Some of these come with a screw on adjustible/shaded filter that will help in that situation.

    Hello if you go with a Gilmore or ULTRADOT you won't have the problem they are alot brighter also the shade that DR Dolittle was thinking about is really a polarize filter that you can rotate to make the back ground darker thus the dot brighter

    I think aimpoint has bright light settings on their new models. Being bright enough has never been a problem for me it's the other end of the adjustment that causes problems in low light.

    I like the adco mirage.I use it for speed steel, and it is very bright. Tough as nails too. adcooptics.com $149.00 30 or 1"
