300 Remington Short Action Ultra Mag
I tried to reload some of the brass I had for my buddies 300 SAUM. It was remington brass. Every time i tried to sit the bulletthe case would crush before it would even begin to seat in the neck. After it started above the boat tail the neck just collapsed my gunsmith told my I was doing everything right. I was wondering if anyone was having this type of problem.

Can only be one of 3 thing's
#1- Wrong Die's
#2-Wrong bullet's, dia to large
#3- Die's adj Wrong.

I agree with Chuck.
It sounds like the die must be adjusted wrong, i.e., the die is set too deep in the press and is crushing the case.
Go back and re-read the instructions and readjust the die per the instructions. Sometimes they require fine tuning to get them exactly right.

well i would say you both were right, but i started with as loose as i could get it, and tightened it down little by little and the SOBs kept crushing. My gunsmith has reloaded forever and he said he didnt know what was happening. the brass is too expensive to keep wasting them. I called remington and they made me send the brass back, they said it could have been weak brass. I was just wondering if anyone else was having the same problem. I thought it may have been how necked down the neck is compared to the cartridge. I used 150gr .308 bullets with RCBS 300 short action ultra mag die. hopefully the brass is weak and i will get a free box of loaded bullets.
